Could You Afford To Work For Free?

Wednesday, 26 November 2014

If you've been keeping up with IonaBlog of late you may know as part of my Digital Journalism module at uni I've had to create a news website as part of a team of 4, our baby Looped will be assessed later this week and graded on content, images, self produced videos  and engagement (via social media and comments.) I posted a blog yesterday about unpaid internships and a video news story about the same story too; it'd be super appreciated if any of you lovely readers headed over and check it out! Comments, likes and follows are also much welcomed! Normal IonaBlog service will resume shortly, till then you can catch me over at Looped.

Are Unpaid Internships Only For The Rich?

Life of late...

So this post is an update of sorts I guess,  how are we all? It'll come as no surprise that over the next few months my blog posts will be fairly sporadic I'm currently completing my honours year and working and sadly sometimes IonaBlog falls a little on the back burner! I'm enjoying fourth year so much even with all the work that has to be done (the reading I'm struggling to find the time to do!) and of course who can forget the student nights out...

It's also gearing up for our busiest time of the year at work so there's that too and it just so happens that this month and next are crazy busy for me with gigs and birthdays a'plenty! Ooft I'll be glad of some down time in the new year, who am I kidding that's when I'll be getting stuck into writing my dissertation...

Ever wondered what my natural hair colour is... I haven't had my hair this colour since I was 16 but they completely stripped it back before bleaching it...

Last weekend I changed my hair colour albeit temporarily as I missed the blue too much and sadly felt the greyish silver aged me too much, boo. I'm now back to blue and loving the tone of it as the fabulous grey shade achieved by the lovely Demi at Rainbow Rooms Stirling was the perfect base for blue, it's now quite a metallicky blue which I love!

Grey Hurr albeit briefly... Looking decidedly witchy with a babe in Kirsty on Halloween!
After a long day spent in the hairdressers last Friday I headed through to Edinburgh to stay with Kirsty and Terri for a night of Halloween frolics, it was great to catch up with two of my lovely blogger pals before heading out with Kirsty to a Blitz themed Halloween party. We later met up with some of our best blogger pals for a night of dancing to some old school cheesy classics at The Citrus Club. Saturday was a chilled out affair of almond croissants and coffee from the Mana House Bakery (easily now one of my favourite bakeries, drool!) and watching Catfish, it was so lovely to spend some time with Kirsty (and Terri though she had to work early on Saturday) at their lovely new place!

Not the best picture sadly...
This week has been pretty busy too with lots of work, uni, Bonfire Night and a wee night out with the girls from uni and then the excitement of getting my hands on a pair of MTV EMA tickets for this Sunday! I'm heading along with Loughlan on Sunday and we are far too excited, even more so as next weekend we're off to see Mother Monster herself!
Girls Night mirror selfies are the best selfies...

Keeping it classy with a wee mirror selfie, ASOS top, Abandon Ship skirt and Primarni flats (my friend Tracy has banned me from wearing heels when we're out together as I'm too tall haha!) Also can anyone spot one of my new tattoos? ;)
So there we have it a bit of a glimpse into what I've been up lately (sadly no exciting pictures of uni or work haha...) I've got a post coming up soon about the fab Christmas gifts on offer from Paul Mitchell and I'll be posting about the MTV EMAs too!
