Nothing wrong with a bit (or a lot) of sparkle!

Sunday, 19 January 2014

Sometimes after a busy week of working or studying you need nothing more than an excuse to get glitzed up and head out dancing, it usually does the trick for me anyway! My friend Vickie was home this weekend and as we didn't get a night out over Christmas decided we'd head out for a cheeky wee night out, which of course gave me another excuse to don' my newest glitzy additions to my wardrobe; my all over sequinned skirt and my beautifully sparkly bangle* from Glitzy Secrets. I'd intended to have a glitzy OOTD post up with this beaut bracelet between Christmas and New Year, but thanks to a dodgy memory card and hunners' of shifts at work it never happened, sacre bleu!

Last night was just what I needed, a night out dancing with the girls, bumping into lots of friends and for the first time ever not feeling so self conscious, I guess I'm finally starting to feel more confident thanks to following Slimming World and I'm so glad of it! With my mane freshly 'pinked', the sparkliest skirt to boot (if you follow me on Instagram you might have seen it on Hogmanay) and a super sparkly bangle, there was no chance of last nights outfit blending into the background!!

Sadly I don't have a full length picture as I got ready too late to get one on my way out and everywhere was too busy to get one inside, however I'm planning to wear this outfit again in London next week as it's my new favourite and will definitely get outfit pictures, finally!

Signature eyebrow raise for good measure...

I love that with this bangle there's not much need for any other jewellery, as I like to let the sparkle speak for itself...

I hope you've all had a great weekend whatever you've been up to, I've got a busy but exciting week ahead, starting a new job, karaoke and tapas with my favourite bloggers, a night in a hotel and of course London, not sure when I'll squeeze in sleep! What are you up to this coming week?

Charmed I'm Sure... Lush Prince Charming Shower Gel Review.

Thursday, 16 January 2014

Ah Valentines Day, funnily I don't celebrate V'Day- which for me is more like 'Singles Awareness Day' haha, but I was however very excited about the new Valentines range at Lush; consisting of 6 lovely limited edition products, we were all very excited about them at our store! Even though we just said good bye to the Christmas products, today I've got a review of my favourite item from the Valentines range, a brand new shower gel named Prince Charming.
I've borrowed this picture from my store's facebook page; Lush Stirling

Though I'm hopeful using this shower gel will attract my Prince Charming, I am doubtful. Though at least after using Prince Charming I smell amazing, if I do say so myself, with cleansing fresh pomegranate juice and a moisturising marshmallow root and vanilla concoction, Prince Charming smells like a juicy, fruity smoothie and has quickly become my go-to shower gel of the moment, perfect for combating the January blues!
Prince Charming Showe Gel available online and in Lush stores.

The Good

  • Consistency; Prince Charming has a thicker almost gel like texture and a little goes a long way!
  • Scent; a blend of zesty, fruity oils like grapefruit, sandlewood and geranium along with the pomegranate, vanilla and marshmallow root combine to create a completely new scent for Lushies.
  • Effects; my skin feels so soft after using Prince Charming, perfect for dry winter skin, I also used it to deep clean my makeup brushes and now they smell amazing!
The Bad
  • Sadly Prince Charming is a limited edition product, so it won't be around for long! I'll be stocking up though as I really love it!
Prince Charming is available in 3 sizes; 100g £4.65, 250g £9.25 and 500g £15.95

Originally inspired by the song 'Prince Charming' by Adam Ant, the inspiration for Lush's newest shower gel later developed into the kind of Prince Charming you'd find in a fairytale, now if only buying a bottle came with a guaranteed Prince Charming ;)

Time for a Catch Up...

Wednesday, 15 January 2014

It's already mid-January, hard to believe really... so far 2014 has been a bit of a whirlwind I guess, with work and starting back at college (only a few months and it'll be all over!) and keeping up with coursework, things have unsurprisingly been hectic, I honestly feel like a broken record! Always going on about how busy I am, as much as I enjoy my course I can't wait to be finished and grasp and feel I can finally achieve order and balance in my life, sadly it's not something I've had as of late.

In 2014 I have a few resolutions, they aren't so much concrete resolutions that I will have measurable aims with (well some are) but I guess my resolutions are changes I'd like to make this year and continue for the future.

  • Try to create better balance in my life, I feel at the moment I'm not really in control of everything, and that majorly stresses me out.
  • Keep on track with Slimming World, I'm thinking of starting WIW (Weigh in Wednesday) posts though I'm not comfortable to disclose my weight online, I will post with how I've been getting on, losses to date etc.
  • Ideally I'd like to achieve my SW target this year, it's definitely achievable, so far I've lost 1stone 4.5lbs, so I'm planning to keep on track to achieve my goal weight!
  • To not get worked up about the future, at the moment I'm rather stressed about what I'll be doing after I finish up my degree at college, getting stressed about it won't help in any way.
  • Improve my sleeping pattern, I'm very aware how awful my sleeping pattern is and it's something I know I can easily improve.
  • Keep on top of my coursework and revision, I've only got a few months left till I'll have finished my degree so I need to make the most of it. Last week I got my two highest ever grades on two assessments and it gave me a taste of how it feels, to achieve 90% on assessments! I know I'm my own worst enemy with college work; time management will be the key this year!
So there we have it a few goals I'd like to try and achieve this year, who knows hopefully I'll manage them all! Of course blogging related my resolution is to not be so erratic, I'd like to post 1-2 times a week minimum and if I've got time for more then go for it.

This illustration by Maurice Sendak is from my favourite book from my childhood 'The Sign on Rosie's Door' I think even today I want to be more like Katie and not give two hoots, what people think about me! Add that to the list ;)
