Back to school/uni/college Tag...

Friday, 31 August 2012

Well hello there,

So I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon and do the whole 'Back to school/uni/college tag' I've seen it all over but read Kirstie from Coffee and Cakes' post the other day and decided to follow suit... I properly start second year on Tuesday though I enrolled on Wednesday, quite exciting I guess...

1. What grade/year of college are you going into?
I'm going into second year of my BA Media and Communications.

2. What are you excited and/or nervous for this year?
It sounds ridiculous, but I can't wait to get another year over and done with and be closer to living and working in London after I've finished studying... though I'm really looking forward to my option this year which is Journalism.

3. What's your favorite part of getting ready for back to school?
Stocking up on pretty stationary is a must for me, I am loving my butterfly notebook I bought from Accessorize as well as the pack of Stabilo fineliners I got half price in Sainsburys :)

4. What grade were you in when you first started wearing makeup to school?
When I first started wearing 'proper' makeup everyday probably second year, though only like mascara, lipbalm and concealer. I've used lipbalm for as long as I can remember though my favourite is 'whipstick' from Lush.

5. Where or from whom do you like getting inspiration for back to school trends & styles?
I work in retail and so I'm surrounded with the current styles and trends, I usually prefer a fairly 'grown-up'/sophisticated look, and have been told by many of the Mum's at my 10 year old brother's primary school that I am the most glamourous 19 year old they've ever seen, which makes me giggle. I take a lot of inspiration from the fashion weeks in terms of colours, but mostly I dress for my shape rather than to what is the current 'fashion'. I love youtube and reading blogs for seeing how other 'normal' people are interpreting current trends too.

6. What are your favorite upcoming "back to school"/fall trends for this year?
I absolutely love the colour burgundy which is a really prominent colour this Autumn, I just ordered a lovely jumper from ASOS today which I will be wearing often to college. I am also on the hunt for a new pair of winter boots any suggestions are warmly welcomed :) My other favourite Autumn trend is accessorizing collars, I have loved wearing shirts for a few years now and am loving jazzing them up with collar chains and looking forward to ordering some collar tips too!

7. Where do you like to go shopping for back to school supplies?
For pretty stationary I really like Accessorize and Paperchase, for basics I have recently started loving Muji for high quality basics, I bought lots of pens from Sainsburys half price last week as well.

8. What are your favorite stores to go back to school shopping?
I don't necessarily do a 'back to school' new wardrobe, but I love Monsoon as the clothes are cut really well (it helps working there too ;) ) Primark for basics, Debenhams for the Designers ranges, and vintage... A mish-mash really :)

9. Will you be carrying a backpack or a purse to school this year? Which do you prefer?
I plan to buy the Mari tote from my recent post, for college and will also be using a backpack my Dad bought me which fits my laptop in it, not the most stylish but practical...

10. What are 3 non-beauty essentials you HAVE to carry in your backpack/purse?
My planner, my glasses (or else I'd be blind) and nibbles usually Graze punnets, as I get dizzy (and sometimes faint) if I haven't eaten much and need to always be prepared; when I was down in London I went to watch Horse guards Parade and nearly fainted, as I hadn't eaten much breakfast, we had to leave and missed it :( guttting!!

11. What are 3 beauty essentials that you HAVE to carry in you backpack/purse?
Hand sanitiser, I'm currently using a lovely cupcake scented one :) whichever lip colour I'm wearing that day and a mini tin of Lush charity pot.

12. What are your go-to hair products for this year, and what is your go to hair style?
I just bought a new bottle of Morrocan oil which I used religiously while living in Australia, and look forward to using it again. Though I love the Aussie colour range, and Lush I love Juicy shampoo :) the combination keeps my hair shiny and blonde.

13. What are your go-to makeup products for this year and what is your go-to makeup look for school?
Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW foundation in 'Believe in Me' and 'They're Real' mascara also by Benefit, and my Body Shop brows palette, I don't leave the house without using it! My brows are so light that without it, I look like I don't have any eyebrows, and look rather odd...

14. What are your go-to clothing items for back to school, and what accessories to you plan to rock this year?
Slouchy jumpers, skinny jeans, blouses, my waxed barbour jacket, high waisted skirts with thick tights, my pink Dr Martens (and the new pair I plan to buy ;) ).

I hope you've enjoyed getting a little insight into my back to college plans, etc... I'm off to bed now as I'm super tired after another long day and it's my birthday tomorrow!! :) Can't believe I'll be 20!

Till next time,
